Breaking-Wave Induced Transient Pore Pressure in a Sandy Seabed: Flume Modeling and Observations

چکیده
Previous studies on wave-induced pore pressure in a porous seabed mainly focused non-breaking regular waves, e.g., Airy linear waves or Stokes non-linear waves. In this study, breaking-wave induced response sandy was physically simulated with large wave flume. The generated by superimposing series of longer onto the foregoing shorter at specified location. Water surface elevations and corresponding process breaking were measured simultaneously three typical locations, i.e., rear, just at, front Based test results, characterization parameters are proposed for pore-pressures. Flume observations indicate that height greatly diminished during breaking, which further affected pore-pressure responses. Moreover, values characteristic time larger than those free elevation breaking-waves. Under action incipient-breaking broken amplitude transient pore-pressures generally smaller predicted results analytical solution Yamamoto et al. (1978) equivalent period.

3-D Poro-Elastoplastic Model for Short-Crested Wave-Induced Pore Pressures in a Porous Seabed
In this paper, a three-dimensional poro-elastoplastic model for the short-crested wave-induced pore pressures in a porous seabed is presented. Unlike the previous models, both elasticity and plasticity of seafloor are considered in the present model. This study considers the effects of wave and soil characteristics on the pore pressures and was validated with the previous wave experiment data. ...

Breaking waves have ability to transport large quantities of sediment and significant impact on coastal structures morphology. Hence, modeling of wave breaking is an important subject in coastal and marine engineering. In this research, the periodic wave breaking process on a plane slope is studied experimentally and numerically. Laboratory experiments were conducted to record water surface ele...
متن کاملGravity wave turbulence in a laboratory flume.
We present an experimental study of the statistics of surface gravity wave turbulence in a flume of a horizontal size 12 x 6 m. For a wide range of amplitudes the wave energy spectrum was found to scale as Eomega approximately omega(-nu) in a frequency range of up to one decade. However, nu appears to be nonuniversal: it depends on the wave intensity and ranges from about 6 to 4. We discuss our...

INTRODUCTION The Cross-shore Transport Experiment (CROSSTEX) is a multi-investigator, multi-university, scientific research project centered around a coordinated series of near-prototype scale experiments that were conducted at Oregon State University's O.H. Hinsdale Wave Research Laboratory (HWRL) during the summer of 2005 (Maddux et al, 2006). The experiments took place in the 104m long, 3.7m...
